IDP Showcase Experience

                        IDP Showcase Experience

When we were first assigned the IDP I thought that it wasn't gonna be that serious, so as I usually do, I don't work on it until a week or two have passed. Luckily, we got to choose who we wanted to be in our group no matter who it was, we just had to have it done by the night on which they were showcased. I chose my four closest friends and we assigned each other our part that we were interested in. I was assigned body effects, which I thought was the most interesting. After about two weeks our teachers began to tell us to show them our parts and or power point. When it was my group's turn we didn't have anything done. After being embarrassed by that we decided we would meet up during our free time to work on our IDP. We decided to go to our friend's house. After working on the IDP for the whole day, we got most of the power point done. Now all we needed was to establish what we were going to say. The problem was that the IDP was in two days and we had to have grandiloquent language for what we were going to say and we had to practice our creative element. The pressure was real. Skip one day and we all had our speeches ready and revised by our English Teacher. Even our power point was top notch work. We were finally done. But now, our nerves began to do their work. Personally, when I was much younger I had to speak to an audience, so I wasn't bothered very much at the fact that we would have an audience but, I was still nervous that I could have choked. Very luckily, there was only four people we would present to, besides our parents. One of them was actually our science teacher which made us feel confident. Finally, we were done. We were very proud because we didn't use flash cards, and we also didn't look up at the power point to read off of it. This IDP showcase was a success from our end. Our topic was Pertussis. A big thing that I will do next time is start the power point and my part early when we get the IDP assigned.

"Always Do Right"

                                    "Always do right"

                                                                  -Mark Twain

I believe this quote means that no matter the cost or time or even the effort, you should always do what is right. Even if doing the wrong thing can sometimes seem tempting, you must overcome it and do what is right. So yeah this quote is very good and should be followed in order to do right and remember to do right no matter the cost. A good example of this would be when you borrow something. When you borrow something, you should give it back when you finish using it. Some people, however, don't do such a thing, instead they keep whatever it is they borrowed and when asked for it they lie to keep it. Although most people choose the wrong under that circumstance, the few that do choose the right are sometimes told they can keep whatever they borrow, or more importantly they gain that person's trust and can then later be trusted if they need to borrow something else. This is why we must always do right even when it is tempting to do what's wrong.

"It's better to be alone"

"It's better to be alone than to be in bad company"
                                                     -Unknown

Image result for being alone is better than being with the wrong crowd

I believe it is better to be alone than around others who don't know how to act. When you're alone but not doing anything wrong, by default you're doing what is right. When you're around people who get drunk and don't know where they end up all hung over, you should be by yourself maybe studying or watching a movie, just not out doing bad things. For example let's say one day your friends want you to go egg a house with them. And you tell them that you don't want to. So you stay home and do whatever it is that you normally do. A couple hours later and they got caught on the news egging someone's house. Now you might feel bad for them, but you will also feel good that you didn't go with them. Therefore, you didn't get in trouble like they did. So now you feel good for doing what's good. That is why sometimes under certain conditions, being alone can be better than being out with bad people who don't know how to act.

"If we do what's right, we have no need to fear"

"If we do what's right, we have no need to fear."
                                                                         -Evan Stephens

What this quote is saying is that as long as we have done the right there is absolutely nothing we should worry about. As long as we don't do anything wrong there is nothing to be scared that might happen out of our control. An example of this would be working on a project that has group members. If everyone does their work or share than everything will be okay and no one will get upset at another person. But if someone doesn't do their work, let's say you. You're going to feel horrible because your group now has the option to kick you out entirely. That's why when you do the right thing you play it safe and don't have to worry about anything.

The 3 Questions to Success

Can people trust me to do what's right?
Am I committed to doing my very best?
Do I treat people the way I want to be treated?
"If you answers to these questions are Yes, there is no way you can fail."
                                                                                 -Lou Holtz

I believe this quote is very true. I believe this is a reliable quote because you can lie about your answer but for it to be a "yes" you really do have to be like this, because all of these questions don't just affect you, but they also affect the people around you. You can lie that about how you do the right thing, when in reality you'll know if ,when it comes down to it, you do the right thing or not. Ask yourself how you treat people, and if that's how you want to be treated. Sometimes though, it can be another person that isn't treating you with the respect you deserve, quite the contrary, they treat you in a horrible manner. The best thing you can do is address it or defending yourself because that is obviously the way they want to be treated. A good example of this would back when there was slaves. Slaves cherished everything they had at there disposal. Slaves also treated everyone they knew with respect and kindness. Now the people back then who owned slaves were actually very mean, and would disrespect sometimes even kill them. The reason slaves treated each other so kindly was because they knew that their "masters" could kill them at any moment they so desired. This made slaves cherish their lives and do the right thing while they still could. I'm not saying we need people to kill us or any of that, but what I am saying is we need to treat people how we want to be treated; help a person in need out if you can, because one day you yourself might need some help, but the people around you want like the way you had treated them, so they're just going to let you go through that struggle, for treating them the way you did.

Thanksgiving Week

                     Thanksgiving Week

Over the week of thanksgiving I didn't do much. I went to work for Monday, Sunday, and Tuesday. The rest of the time I just played video games. I did have to read a whole book for English, and create a lab report for my pbs class. I spent most of my thanksgiving playing games with my friend Axel. We watched lots holiday comedy movies like Adam Sandler's eight crazy nights. I didn't go anywhere, we usually go to my aunts house where she makes a ham, along with mashed potatoes and other thanksgiving standard foods, we have come to recognize. What we did do though, was eat together as a family. The only thing is that we do this almost everyday already, We are used to eating together. The only thing is that we didn't eat what people usually eat for Thanksgiving. It was still fun though because my dad had my brother's close our restaurant early so that we could all be home. For the first time in years my brother decided to play video games with me. We played for hours and hours on end, it was one of the best times I've ever had. The only thing that was bad is that my brother ended up hurting his back so we had to stop.

Physical Fitness Basis to Dynamic And Creative Intellectual Activity

Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity. The relationship between the soundness of the body and the activities of the mind is subtle and complex. Much is not yet understood. But, we do know what the Greeks knew: that intelligence and skill can only function at the peak of their capacity when the body is healthy and strong."

                                                            - President John F. Kennedy

What this quote is saying is that only, when we are healthy and well, we perform any little task to the greatest of our ability. When we are healthy we can think calmly and not have to worry about rushing, making the end result much better than originally intended to be. This quote is true. Whenever we are sick or just not feeling well, we just can't stop thinking about it. The reason we can't stop thinking about it is because it physically can harm us pulling us from our focus making us act before thinking. Another example would be when you're mad. When someone is mad they can't think straight because they immediately want to get rid of whatever is causing them rage, so sometimes they do things they wouldn't normally do when cool and calm. That is why when we are sick we need to rest and get over our sickness. When we're resting at home we don't have a nuisance that would upset us, we're just there calming down and getting better. That is why we perform our best when our body is healthy and fully functional as can be.

Transylvania

                           Image result for transylvania romania

Transylvania is located in Romania. Transylvania has many beautiful sights all around filled with hills and mountains. Most houses in Transylvania are very separated from each other. During the day, Transylvania looks very serene and beautiful, but during the night you can get very creepy vibes, along with many of the legends that make Transylvania a very creepy place. In Transylvania the language Hungarian is spoken in more populated areas. There are also many rustic castles you can visit in Transylvania, some you can even stay in a night. Many people are afraid to go to Transylvania because there are myths that paranormal occurrences happen very often, almost everyday. The locals talk of Vlad Tepes, who was a 15th century Wallachian nobleman who skewered 80,000 people on long spikes. The locals say that he is a hero causing mixed feelings with other people, which is why the locals don't interact with the tourist that much. Life in Transylvania is very old fashioned, not much technology is used there. I chose Transylvania because I thought it was interesting how so many myths are based on Transylvania, and how it still looks so rustic in our current day and age.

Kindness Is The Essence Of Greatness

"Kindness Is The Essence Of Greatness"

                                                        - Joseph B. Wirthlin

What this quote means is that kindness is like a milestone when becoming successful. To be successful you must be kind, even if sometimes the situation makes you think otherwise, you have to be kind in order to get somewhere in life. For example when you're at a job interview, you're going to be kind because you are really going to want that job. Another example would be, if you're in court. If you get into trouble for some odd reason you're going to have to be kind to the jury so they can declare you innocent. In that case it would be one step to freedom and starting all over. There are many more examples like when you meet a new person. You have to be nice so they can be nice to you because, you don't know what they might be capable of. One day you might need help in finance, and that person might help you in your time of need. That is why you must always be kind, it leads to greater things and can lead to success.

"If it is not right"

If it is not right, do not do it; if it is not true, do not say it."                                          -Marcus Aurelius

I believe this quote means to just no say or do what isn't right. In other words if you don't have anything right to do or anything nice to say don't say anything at all. Specifically to not make up rumors, because if you say something that isn't true and it starts to spread than it becomes a rumor. A good example of this would be like when making a new friend. You don't punch them or make fun of them. And you certainly don't start making things up about them. Instead you ask them about hobbies just to see if you share similar interests. You slowly earn their trust and you are honest with them so that they don't also make up rumors about you. That is why you should follow this quote, and use it too.

Thanksgiving

                      Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving is the day that we spend time with our families and eat with them, even though we should do this normally. Most people spend the whole week of thanksgiving together doing things like playing football, or bike riding, things like that. Thanksgiving was made an official holiday in 1789 when George Washington when he issued the first Thanksgiving proclamation. Several other places around the world, like Canada, also celebrate a holiday that is similar to that of the thanksgiving we celebrate. Over the years we have come up with essential traditions for Thanksgiving. For example eating a turkey and stuffing on Thanksgiving has become a staple. Although I believe that as long as you you keep what Thanksgiving is supposed to sentimentally, it doesn't matter what your tradition is. You just have to absolutely be with your family and loved ones, or else Thanksgiving just isn't what people end up making Thanksgiving to be.

I am thankful for:
  1. My family
  2. My friends
  3. My loving dog
  4. The little things my mom does
  5. Being able to own a family business
  6. Having two brothers
  7. My awesome cousins
  8. Being able to make it to high school
  9. For having a good first year of high school

"Doing what is right"

"Doing what is right, fair and honorable is more important than winning or losing."
                                              - Chick Moorman

This quote means that doing something good is better than both, either winning or losing. That when you do something good, you'll feel better than if you would've won. Having honor is also more important than winning or losing. And playing fair is more glorious than winning or losing. Chick Morrman believes that doing what is right, fair, and honorable is better than winning or losing. For example it is better if no one wins a boxing fight and up with a tie, as long as both fighters fought fairly and with honor. It makes the match better to watch because both fighters are throwing punches and no one is just standing around or hugging to much, because that wouldn't be fair, it would be a drag to watch such a boring and horrid fight. That is why overall doing what is fair and honorable is better than winning or losing. This is also seen in multiple other areas in life. Another good example would be in a race. Better there be a tie than someones car is sabotaged and then no one wins due to horrible sportsmen ship. But if everything is fair there might even end up being a tie or who knows, maybe someone will one but skin on their teeth.

Reflection:

I wouldn’t like to become an oncologist because although it seems like a good paying job, I don’t think I would be able to handle the depression. What I mean is that there are a lot of people who have cancer and not all of them are adults. Seeing children with Cancer would be a very depressing factor in this career choice.

Veterans Day

What is Veterans Day?
Veterans Day is a public holiday held on the anniversary of the end of World War 1.
When is it?
Veterans Day is on every November 11th the day that World War 1 officially ended.
What is the purpose of Veterans Day?
Veterans Day is the day that veterans are thanked for their services to the United States. It is also the day that the armistice was signed, ending the hostilities between the Allied nations and Germany.
Why is it important to show honor on Veterans?
It is important to show honor to veterans because World War 1 was one of the most important wars of all history. It was what was finally over due to all the veterans that participated in this war; some alive and others couldn’t make it. It’s important to honor them because during their service they might have seen things that no person should ever see. The veterans that do make it out alive might have lost something useful like an arm or a leg, maybe even a friend.
List several ways to show honor and respect on Veterans Day:
·       Wear a red poppy or yellow ribbon
·       Visit Veterans hospitals
·       Make holiday parade
·       Honor veterans all year round
·       Donate

Veterans Day Picture:

Interest pertaining to Veterans Day:
Does Veterans Day pertain to everyone who serves in the military or specifically veterans that served in a certain war?
Reflection towards Veterans Day:
I find it interesting how people celebrate veterans on this day. People should honor veterans all the time not just on one day, it’s not like if they are only veterans for a day. People should celebrate all the time or they should at least make Veterans Holiday a week.

"He that walketh with wise men"

"He that walketh with wise men shall be wise:but a companion of fools shall be destroyed."

This quote means that if you choose to be around good people you will be a good person. If you choose to be around bad people you will end up being bad and possibly killed. This also means that you have to choose your friends wisely because it might even determine your future and how you will live, including how you might live. This quote also encourages you to look at who are your friends carefully because they might drag you into bad things if they themselves are bad. For example Some people may think they have the best friends ever, but in reality that person is bad and love to do bad with those so called "friends". But if you have "wise" friends they  can lead you into various experiences where you and your friends are all gonna feel good.

"The Best Recreation"

"The best recreation is to do good"
                                                -William Penn

I believe this quote means that out of all things possible doing good makes you feel good the most. Feeling good doesn't just make you relax but it also benefits you and the people around you. When you feel tired doing good will make you feel better. Personally I think that doing something neutral that doesn't help or hurt anyone is the best recreation. Sometimes not everything you do is good but it isn't bad either. It helps you relax, it doesn't have to be good. But it shouldn't be bad either. For example playing video games isn't good or bad, it's just a means of helping you relax. I believe this quote is morally incorrect. I find recreation in video games and no one is affected by it good or bad. Only I am entertained/relaxed which is what matters most.

"Right is right"

"Right is right, even if everyone is against it; and wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it."
                                                         - William Penn

I believe this quote means that even if your friends or the other person is doing wrong it doesn't make it right. There are some things everyone does. Even though everyone does them, it doesn't make them right. Some people believe that just because the crowd goes with one thing it's right. That's not the case at all. Some people (bystanders specifically) will often do wrong as well if it means that they will be able to fit in with the majority of people and their actions. There are many examples of this. But one in particular stands out to me. Most people know about Hitler. Hitler thought it was right to kill jews and people who didn't have blonde hair and blue or green eyes. He had strong followers that also agreed with "purifying the gene pool", Hitler had the rich, and army, scientists. Yet there were people who rebelled and were often killed for it. That just goes to show that even in the face of death there were people who would choose the right no matter what.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Health Educators teach people about behaviors that help you stay healthier. They create and use strategies to improve health of individuals and communities. They also discuss health concerns with members of specific populations or communities.
Salary:
Health Educators make an average of 41,830 USD as of 2012.
Education:
The minimum requirement to become a health educator is a bachelor’s degree, although most hold master’s degrees. They must also take educative classes. To become certified one must complete a competency based exam administered by the National Commission of Health Education Credentialing. In order to take the test you must turn in a transcript of your health education coursework. Some employers don’t require that you be certified but often prefer that you are. Some places, depending on location, absolutely require that you are certified if not they simply do not employ you. If you are certified it also allows you to charge more just because you have a title in your field of work.
Picture:

Reflection:

I wouldn’t like to be a health educator because it seems like a job where you have to go to school so much and in the end I believe it is a very boring job as to what I’ve done in the past. But, I would consider because it seems like one of those jobs that gives you a lot of time to rest and be on vacation, a more lax job, which is good but in the end I just believe overall this job would simply slowly drain the life out of me.

"Don't Sacrifice What You Want Most..."

"Don't sacrifice what you want most for what you want now. Write down what you want most and see it often."
                                                                           -Peter Vidmar

I believe what this quote means is that even if you want something really bad you should stop yourself from getting it and work towards getting the thing you want first. To prioritize what you want most form what you want. Sometimes that happens you want something at the moment even though what you want most is way better. It means that you have to know what you really want from what you want at the moment. An example of this would be many adults. When adults are saving money for, let's say a car, they really want that car. Most adults then save a certain amount of money, but instead of waiting for the car they really want, they get a new car they can buy at the moment. Then it turns out that the car is worse than the car they really wanted. If they would've waited they would've had the car that was faster, newer, and more comfortable, but instead couldn't wait and got an old normal car.

Reflection:

I wouldn’t mind being a healthcare administrator because it is one of the many jobs that seem calmer and requires more desk work than anything else. Another reason is because you get paid a highly good amount of money without having to do very risky things like the other side of the spectrum; surgeries.

"A Good Name"

"A good name is better than anything you can achieve in this life"                        -Coach K

What this quote means is that in life it is better to have a good reputation rather than a bad reputation towards your name. Coach K is well known for coaching many basketball players from Duke that are now NBA players. Because of this he has a very good repuatation. Coach K is also spoken of with great dignity and trust by all his trained NBA players. This means that even if he wouldn't of had as many wins as he did, he still would've had a good name because all the people he trained speak highly of him. Another example of this would be Steve Jobs, his name will always be remembered for creating one of the most used brands of today. He will most likely never be forgotten for his good reputation of making innovative products and partially sparking the encouragement of smart devices, like the iphone and ipod. He wasn't just known for that, but Jobs was never spoken about being aggressive towards his employees. That is why having a good name is the best thing you can achieve in this life.

"Stand For Right"

"If your so-called friends urge you to do anything you know to be wrong, you be the one to make a stand for right, even if you stand alone. Have the moral courage to be a light for others to follow."
                                                                 - Thomas Monson

What this quote means is to always stand up for right even when your being pressured into doing wrong. At times people will think the wrong is right because most people will think it's right. You need to stand up to all those people. Even if you think they'll hurt you they won't because they'll know you're choosing the right. It also means that most likely when you choose the right against to other people choosing the wrong there will be followers who will also choose the right. Then people will follow those others that also decided to choose the right. An example of this would be during the time of Hitler's reign. Since he had so much power people that that people who didn't have colored eyes or blonde hair would have to die. Once Hitler commit suicide, light struck. People weren't afraid of saying how Hitler's action were wrong. That is why Germany is now the lovely place we know today.

"A CTR Champion.."

           Student Success Statement
"A CTR champion is a person who makes a great human out of himself."                                                     -Noemi Trigueros

What I believe this quote means is that there many different types of champions, but they don't make you a better person. But being a CTR champion does help you be a better person. That's why you must always choose the right. An example of a champion that doesn't make you a better person would be the boxing champion Mayweather. Even though he holds the title of world's best  boxer he's still a very ostentatious and pretentious person.  Mayweather loves showing off his money. He would also beat on his wife and fight very cowardly on the ring. On the other hand a CTR champion will make you a better person by making you choose the better choice that is right. This why a CTR champion is the best kind of champion.

"Success Is Not An Accident"

“Success is not an accident. Success is actually a choice. Are the habits you have today on par with the dreams you have tomorrow?”
                                                                     -Alan Stein

I believe this quote means that we choose whether we are going to be successful or not. It means that with our choices we make the grand choice of if we will be successful or not. It means that we are the ones that choose our future with our decisions of today.

An example of this would be high school for example. Some students choose to do their assignments and go every day. These students are choosing to be successful. Others students may ditch class, or just not do their homework. Some may even not sign up for high school. Simply put they choose success when they choose the right.
