Kindness Is The Essence Of Greatness

"Kindness Is The Essence Of Greatness"

                                                        - Joseph B. Wirthlin

What this quote means is that kindness is like a milestone when becoming successful. To be successful you must be kind, even if sometimes the situation makes you think otherwise, you have to be kind in order to get somewhere in life. For example when you're at a job interview, you're going to be kind because you are really going to want that job. Another example would be, if you're in court. If you get into trouble for some odd reason you're going to have to be kind to the jury so they can declare you innocent. In that case it would be one step to freedom and starting all over. There are many more examples like when you meet a new person. You have to be nice so they can be nice to you because, you don't know what they might be capable of. One day you might need help in finance, and that person might help you in your time of need. That is why you must always be kind, it leads to greater things and can lead to success.

"If it is not right"

If it is not right, do not do it; if it is not true, do not say it."                                          -Marcus Aurelius

I believe this quote means to just no say or do what isn't right. In other words if you don't have anything right to do or anything nice to say don't say anything at all. Specifically to not make up rumors, because if you say something that isn't true and it starts to spread than it becomes a rumor. A good example of this would be like when making a new friend. You don't punch them or make fun of them. And you certainly don't start making things up about them. Instead you ask them about hobbies just to see if you share similar interests. You slowly earn their trust and you are honest with them so that they don't also make up rumors about you. That is why you should follow this quote, and use it too.

Thanksgiving

                      Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving is the day that we spend time with our families and eat with them, even though we should do this normally. Most people spend the whole week of thanksgiving together doing things like playing football, or bike riding, things like that. Thanksgiving was made an official holiday in 1789 when George Washington when he issued the first Thanksgiving proclamation. Several other places around the world, like Canada, also celebrate a holiday that is similar to that of the thanksgiving we celebrate. Over the years we have come up with essential traditions for Thanksgiving. For example eating a turkey and stuffing on Thanksgiving has become a staple. Although I believe that as long as you you keep what Thanksgiving is supposed to sentimentally, it doesn't matter what your tradition is. You just have to absolutely be with your family and loved ones, or else Thanksgiving just isn't what people end up making Thanksgiving to be.

I am thankful for:
  1. My family
  2. My friends
  3. My loving dog
  4. The little things my mom does
  5. Being able to own a family business
  6. Having two brothers
  7. My awesome cousins
  8. Being able to make it to high school
  9. For having a good first year of high school

"Doing what is right"

"Doing what is right, fair and honorable is more important than winning or losing."
                                              - Chick Moorman

This quote means that doing something good is better than both, either winning or losing. That when you do something good, you'll feel better than if you would've won. Having honor is also more important than winning or losing. And playing fair is more glorious than winning or losing. Chick Morrman believes that doing what is right, fair, and honorable is better than winning or losing. For example it is better if no one wins a boxing fight and up with a tie, as long as both fighters fought fairly and with honor. It makes the match better to watch because both fighters are throwing punches and no one is just standing around or hugging to much, because that wouldn't be fair, it would be a drag to watch such a boring and horrid fight. That is why overall doing what is fair and honorable is better than winning or losing. This is also seen in multiple other areas in life. Another good example would be in a race. Better there be a tie than someones car is sabotaged and then no one wins due to horrible sportsmen ship. But if everything is fair there might even end up being a tie or who knows, maybe someone will one but skin on their teeth.

Reflection:

I wouldn’t like to become an oncologist because although it seems like a good paying job, I don’t think I would be able to handle the depression. What I mean is that there are a lot of people who have cancer and not all of them are adults. Seeing children with Cancer would be a very depressing factor in this career choice.

Veterans Day

What is Veterans Day?
Veterans Day is a public holiday held on the anniversary of the end of World War 1.
When is it?
Veterans Day is on every November 11th the day that World War 1 officially ended.
What is the purpose of Veterans Day?
Veterans Day is the day that veterans are thanked for their services to the United States. It is also the day that the armistice was signed, ending the hostilities between the Allied nations and Germany.
Why is it important to show honor on Veterans?
It is important to show honor to veterans because World War 1 was one of the most important wars of all history. It was what was finally over due to all the veterans that participated in this war; some alive and others couldn’t make it. It’s important to honor them because during their service they might have seen things that no person should ever see. The veterans that do make it out alive might have lost something useful like an arm or a leg, maybe even a friend.
List several ways to show honor and respect on Veterans Day:
·       Wear a red poppy or yellow ribbon
·       Visit Veterans hospitals
·       Make holiday parade
·       Honor veterans all year round
·       Donate

Interest pertaining to Veterans Day:
Does Veterans Day pertain to everyone who serves in the military or specifically veterans that served in a certain war?
Reflection towards Veterans Day:
I find it interesting how people celebrate veterans on this day. People should honor veterans all the time not just on one day, it’s not like if they are only veterans for a day. People should celebrate all the time or they should at least make Veterans Holiday a week.

"He that walketh with wise men"

"He that walketh with wise men shall be wise:but a companion of fools shall be destroyed."

This quote means that if you choose to be around good people you will be a good person. If you choose to be around bad people you will end up being bad and possibly killed. This also means that you have to choose your friends wisely because it might even determine your future and how you will live, including how you might live. This quote also encourages you to look at who are your friends carefully because they might drag you into bad things if they themselves are bad. For example Some people may think they have the best friends ever, but in reality that person is bad and love to do bad with those so called "friends". But if you have "wise" friends they  can lead you into various experiences where you and your friends are all gonna feel good.

"The Best Recreation"

"The best recreation is to do good"
                                                -William Penn

I believe this quote means that out of all things possible doing good makes you feel good the most. Feeling good doesn't just make you relax but it also benefits you and the people around you. When you feel tired doing good will make you feel better. Personally I think that doing something neutral that doesn't help or hurt anyone is the best recreation. Sometimes not everything you do is good but it isn't bad either. It helps you relax, it doesn't have to be good. But it shouldn't be bad either. For example playing video games isn't good or bad, it's just a means of helping you relax. I believe this quote is morally incorrect. I find recreation in video games and no one is affected by it good or bad. Only I am entertained/relaxed which is what matters most.

"Right is right"

"Right is right, even if everyone is against it; and wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it."
                                                         - William Penn

I believe this quote means that even if your friends or the other person is doing wrong it doesn't make it right. There are some things everyone does. Even though everyone does them, it doesn't make them right. Some people believe that just because the crowd goes with one thing it's right. That's not the case at all. Some people (bystanders specifically) will often do wrong as well if it means that they will be able to fit in with the majority of people and their actions. There are many examples of this. But one in particular stands out to me. Most people know about Hitler. Hitler thought it was right to kill jews and people who didn't have blonde hair and blue or green eyes. He had strong followers that also agreed with "purifying the gene pool", Hitler had the rich, and army, scientists. Yet there were people who rebelled and were often killed for it. That just goes to show that even in the face of death there were people who would choose the right no matter what.

Reflection:

I wouldn’t like to be a health educator because it seems like a job where you have to go to school so much and in the end I believe it is a very boring job as to what I’ve done in the past. But, I would consider because it seems like one of those jobs that gives you a lot of time to rest and be on vacation, a more lax job, which is good but in the end I just believe overall this job would simply slowly drain the life out of me.
