IDP Showcase Experience

                        IDP Showcase Experience

When we were first assigned the IDP I thought that it wasn't gonna be that serious, so as I usually do, I don't work on it until a week or two have passed. Luckily, we got to choose who we wanted to be in our group no matter who it was, we just had to have it done by the night on which they were showcased. I chose my four closest friends and we assigned each other our part that we were interested in. I was assigned body effects, which I thought was the most interesting. After about two weeks our teachers began to tell us to show them our parts and or power point. When it was my group's turn we didn't have anything done. After being embarrassed by that we decided we would meet up during our free time to work on our IDP. We decided to go to our friend's house. After working on the IDP for the whole day, we got most of the power point done. Now all we needed was to establish what we were going to say. The problem was that the IDP was in two days and we had to have grandiloquent language for what we were going to say and we had to practice our creative element. The pressure was real. Skip one day and we all had our speeches ready and revised by our English Teacher. Even our power point was top notch work. We were finally done. But now, our nerves began to do their work. Personally, when I was much younger I had to speak to an audience, so I wasn't bothered very much at the fact that we would have an audience but, I was still nervous that I could have choked. Very luckily, there was only four people we would present to, besides our parents. One of them was actually our science teacher which made us feel confident. Finally, we were done. We were very proud because we didn't use flash cards, and we also didn't look up at the power point to read off of it. This IDP showcase was a success from our end. Our topic was Pertussis. A big thing that I will do next time is start the power point and my part early when we get the IDP assigned.

"Always Do Right"

                                    "Always do right"

                                                                  -Mark Twain

I believe this quote means that no matter the cost or time or even the effort, you should always do what is right. Even if doing the wrong thing can sometimes seem tempting, you must overcome it and do what is right. So yeah this quote is very good and should be followed in order to do right and remember to do right no matter the cost. A good example of this would be when you borrow something. When you borrow something, you should give it back when you finish using it. Some people, however, don't do such a thing, instead they keep whatever it is they borrowed and when asked for it they lie to keep it. Although most people choose the wrong under that circumstance, the few that do choose the right are sometimes told they can keep whatever they borrow, or more importantly they gain that person's trust and can then later be trusted if they need to borrow something else. This is why we must always do right even when it is tempting to do what's wrong.

"It's better to be alone"

"It's better to be alone than to be in bad company"
                                                     -Unknown

Image result for being alone is better than being with the wrong crowd

I believe it is better to be alone than around others who don't know how to act. When you're alone but not doing anything wrong, by default you're doing what is right. When you're around people who get drunk and don't know where they end up all hung over, you should be by yourself maybe studying or watching a movie, just not out doing bad things. For example let's say one day your friends want you to go egg a house with them. And you tell them that you don't want to. So you stay home and do whatever it is that you normally do. A couple hours later and they got caught on the news egging someone's house. Now you might feel bad for them, but you will also feel good that you didn't go with them. Therefore, you didn't get in trouble like they did. So now you feel good for doing what's good. That is why sometimes under certain conditions, being alone can be better than being out with bad people who don't know how to act.

"If we do what's right, we have no need to fear"

"If we do what's right, we have no need to fear."
                                                                         -Evan Stephens

What this quote is saying is that as long as we have done the right there is absolutely nothing we should worry about. As long as we don't do anything wrong there is nothing to be scared that might happen out of our control. An example of this would be working on a project that has group members. If everyone does their work or share than everything will be okay and no one will get upset at another person. But if someone doesn't do their work, let's say you. You're going to feel horrible because your group now has the option to kick you out entirely. That's why when you do the right thing you play it safe and don't have to worry about anything.

The 3 Questions to Success

Can people trust me to do what's right?
Am I committed to doing my very best?
Do I treat people the way I want to be treated?
"If you answers to these questions are Yes, there is no way you can fail."
                                                                                 -Lou Holtz

I believe this quote is very true. I believe this is a reliable quote because you can lie about your answer but for it to be a "yes" you really do have to be like this, because all of these questions don't just affect you, but they also affect the people around you. You can lie that about how you do the right thing, when in reality you'll know if ,when it comes down to it, you do the right thing or not. Ask yourself how you treat people, and if that's how you want to be treated. Sometimes though, it can be another person that isn't treating you with the respect you deserve, quite the contrary, they treat you in a horrible manner. The best thing you can do is address it or defending yourself because that is obviously the way they want to be treated. A good example of this would back when there was slaves. Slaves cherished everything they had at there disposal. Slaves also treated everyone they knew with respect and kindness. Now the people back then who owned slaves were actually very mean, and would disrespect sometimes even kill them. The reason slaves treated each other so kindly was because they knew that their "masters" could kill them at any moment they so desired. This made slaves cherish their lives and do the right thing while they still could. I'm not saying we need people to kill us or any of that, but what I am saying is we need to treat people how we want to be treated; help a person in need out if you can, because one day you yourself might need some help, but the people around you want like the way you had treated them, so they're just going to let you go through that struggle, for treating them the way you did.

Thanksgiving Week

                     Thanksgiving Week

Over the week of thanksgiving I didn't do much. I went to work for Monday, Sunday, and Tuesday. The rest of the time I just played video games. I did have to read a whole book for English, and create a lab report for my pbs class. I spent most of my thanksgiving playing games with my friend Axel. We watched lots holiday comedy movies like Adam Sandler's eight crazy nights. I didn't go anywhere, we usually go to my aunts house where she makes a ham, along with mashed potatoes and other thanksgiving standard foods, we have come to recognize. What we did do though, was eat together as a family. The only thing is that we do this almost everyday already, We are used to eating together. The only thing is that we didn't eat what people usually eat for Thanksgiving. It was still fun though because my dad had my brother's close our restaurant early so that we could all be home. For the first time in years my brother decided to play video games with me. We played for hours and hours on end, it was one of the best times I've ever had. The only thing that was bad is that my brother ended up hurting his back so we had to stop.

Physical Fitness Basis to Dynamic And Creative Intellectual Activity

Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity. The relationship between the soundness of the body and the activities of the mind is subtle and complex. Much is not yet understood. But, we do know what the Greeks knew: that intelligence and skill can only function at the peak of their capacity when the body is healthy and strong."

                                                            - President John F. Kennedy

What this quote is saying is that only, when we are healthy and well, we perform any little task to the greatest of our ability. When we are healthy we can think calmly and not have to worry about rushing, making the end result much better than originally intended to be. This quote is true. Whenever we are sick or just not feeling well, we just can't stop thinking about it. The reason we can't stop thinking about it is because it physically can harm us pulling us from our focus making us act before thinking. Another example would be when you're mad. When someone is mad they can't think straight because they immediately want to get rid of whatever is causing them rage, so sometimes they do things they wouldn't normally do when cool and calm. That is why when we are sick we need to rest and get over our sickness. When we're resting at home we don't have a nuisance that would upset us, we're just there calming down and getting better. That is why we perform our best when our body is healthy and fully functional as can be.

Transylvania

Transylvania is located in Romania. Transylvania has many beautiful sights all around filled with hills and mountains. Most houses in Transylvania are very separated from each other. During the day, Transylvania looks very serene and beautiful, but during the night you can get very creepy vibes, along with many of the legends that make Transylvania a very creepy place. In Transylvania the language Hungarian is spoken in more populated areas. There are also many rustic castles you can visit in Transylvania, some you can even stay in a night. Many people are afraid to go to Transylvania because there are myths that paranormal occurrences happen very often, almost everyday. The locals talk of Vlad Tepes, who was a 15th century Wallachian nobleman who skewered 80,000 people on long spikes. The locals say that he is a hero causing mixed feelings with other people, which is why the locals don't interact with the tourist that much. Life in Transylvania is very old fashioned, not much technology is used there. I chose Transylvania because I thought it was interesting how so many myths are based on Transylvania, and how it still looks so rustic in our current day and age.
