Honor

“ I would prefer even to fail with honor than to win by cheating.”
                                                                                        -Sophocles

sophoclesbust.jpg

This quote is what sparked other great quotes. Most quotes now are complicated and often very long. However, in the time of Sophocles almost anything that was wise was considered great. But back then being wise wasn’t something that was common. Instead it was to be scribed whenever someone said something so wise. What this quote says is that failing with honor is worth much more than winning by cheating. Cheating is ctw and will never be a good excuse for anything, but when doing anything with honor than the whole motive and orientation will be for the greater good. This quote is applied to anything that is moral. No matter how big or how small, this quote has an influence on all decisions. It also applies to the most innocent of people and the worst of dictators. When someone cheats on a simple little quiz in school, he’s being dishonorable and that’s all it takes. However if he studies and gets an F, it will be much better for him morally because it reflects what he really knows. Another example would be swimming legend Michael Phelps. He always swims to the best of his ability, and has several techniques that help him gain great speed. Now if he were to take performance enhancing drugs than it would be dishonest of him to do such a thing. That is why being ctr will help follow the quote and lead the way to success.

Always tell the truth

  1. Telling the truth lets everyone know what really happened. There’s less chance of misunderstanding, confusion, or conflict.
  2. Telling the truth protects innocent people from being blamed or punished.
  3. Telling the truth allows everyone to learn from what happened.
  4. You usually get into less trouble for telling the truth other than lying (and getting caught).
  5. Other people trust you more when you tell the truth.
  6. You don’t have to tell (or remember) more lies to keep your story straight.
  7. You gain a reputation for being truthful- a trait most people value.
  8. Telling the truth helps you to feel secure and peaceful inside.
                                                                                  -Barbara A. Lewis

This quote does something very simple. It tells you the eight reasons why you should always tell the truth. All of these eight things are beneficial towards you. If you lie then you would be on the other end of the spectrum, and the opposite of all this will happen to you. That is why you must always tell the truth and be a ctr person. Not only do you save yourself from being hurt but those around you are also saved from the pain that comes with not telling the truth. This will also make you a more likeable person overall because everyone will trust you. Sometimes not telling the truth leads to more severe punishment, but if you tell the truth you might not even get into trouble. That is why you must always tell the truth and be a ctr person. This will keep you away from trouble.

Internal Phenomenon

“The reward for doing right is mostly an internal phenomenon: self-respect, dignity (self-worth), integrity, and self-esteem.”
                                                        -Dr. Laura Schlessinger

download (3).jpg

What this quote is saying is that the best reward when doing something good is the feeling, you get after you do the thing that is right. Some people may expect a reward when really the only reward they should allow  themselves to receive, if any, it should be the feeling they acquire. For example the man that worked at the airport. He found an ipad with thirteen thousand dollars. Anyone else would’ve just taken the money and the ipad and gotten it for themselves. Thirteen thousand dollars is more than enough money for a good car down payment. I believe even I would’ve struggled choosing the right in this situation. However that man is the most ctr man alive, maybe even surpassing Haymore himself. And Mr basically created the ctr slogan. This man is truly kind hearted and loyal to his honor. Even the most innocent of people would’ve struggled turning in the money that was so high in value, yet wasn’t theirs at all. When you take a good look at life. It is the ctr people who live the happiest and the most confident. For example Obama is a very ctr president in fact his whole family is ctr. And because of that he lives a very happy life, and has also roasted people like Donald Trump in the past. That was probably one of the best things he has ever done that wasn’t required of him as a president. That is why Obama is a super ctr person.

The Four Steps

  1. Work Hard
  2. Follow your passions. Do things you are interested in doing.
  3. Don’t chase after money.
  4. Serve others. Do good things for others, and good things will come to you.
                                                                        -Phillip Riggs

download (9).jpg

These four steps are the basics to succeeding. They are some of the most essential things when being a CTR person. However, some people can find these steps difficult. However, if someone is performing any of these steps than it’s because they are well on their way to becoming a CTR person. Now i’ll break down the steps for you. The first step is simple, you simply don’t stop trying. You have to be determined at completing your goals. Don’t let anything stop you. But you shouldn’t slack off either. Just keep working towards your goal. Second, what it is you want to do. Never do something you know you’re going to hate eventually. Stick to something that you can do for a very long time, without getting tired. If you manage to accomplish this and make it your career then you are basically set for the rest of your life. Step 3 is actually one of the more important steps. This should be true no matter what. You need to stay humble. Being humble will get you places in your life. No one likes someone who’s mean and stingy only thinking about money. Money is a very dangerous thing. It can change the way people think. That is why you must always stay humble. Step 4 is sometimes hard even for me to complete. Sometimes people just get in our nerves and it becomes very difficult to complete this step. But if you do, make the effort to do something nice to someone else, like give the homeless some money, then the good will come back to you. That is why we must follow these four simple steps to be successful.

A Promise

“ A promise must never be broken”
                                                 -Alexander Hamilton

download (1).jpg

What this quote is saying is that there are some things that should be broken like your highest test record. However, there are some things that should never be broken and the most important example is given within the quote itself. A Promise. A promise should never be broken no matter how much you want to. Because if you want to break the promise then you shouldn’t have said it at all in the first place. Some things that shouldn’t be broken are rhetorical, however some are physical. Although it heals, the bones of someone should never be broken. When one is breaking a promise, they are also breaking the trust that the one person had given them. Now it’s all gone. Now that person will never see you the same way as before. You will be seen as a disgrace. But when you are a ctr person and you keep all of your promises then everyone will trust you and you will be seen as  loyal person, like the great Dj Khaled once said, “you loyal, I appreciate you”. One of the more modern versions of the fantastic older quotes to be a good citizen. That is why one must keep all promises. It keep their image clean without even realizing it. And if you decide to break all these promises then you will be nothing but a pariah, an outcast. The reason you can tell this quote is very wise, is that it’s coming from Hamilton himself, who lived way before we did, and even in those times trust was one of the most important aspects of man. That is why you should never break a promise, and be the person everyone wants you to be.

They're Right

“My basic principle is that you don’t make decisions because they are easy; you don’t make decisions because they are cheap; you don’t make them because they’re popular; you make them because they’re right.”
                                                             -Theodore Hesburgh
download (1).jpg

What this quote is saying is that we need to make decisions because they are the right thing to do, not because it’s the most popular opinion at the moment. He also states that we shouldn’t care how much money these decisions cost us to do as long as they are the right thing to do. Some decisions might not be easy but if they’re the right decisions than we should go through with that decision because, ultimately it is for the greater good. Some decisions can be small but can have a great impact on someone as long as it is the right thing to do. A good example of this quote would be kicking out donald trump from the presidential council. That man is only going to ruin our country. Now for some that may seem a little harsh but kicking him out would be the right thing to do. It won’t be cheap or easy either, but it is the greatest thing that can happen in our country at the moment. In fact kicking him out of the country would be the greatest decision for everyone. That is why this man’s quote is the greatest.

Don't do it

“Many think that the short term gain will be worth the long term pain, but it isn’t. In addition, using steroids is cheating, and there is nothing worse in sports than a cheater. Don’t do it.”
                                                                  -George Mitchell

download (5).jpg

This quote is saying to not cheat. It’s simple. Don’t do it man. It’s not worth it. Much like the previous post, this one tells you to not cheat no matter what. By the way no one likes a cheater. In the long wrong they will feel bad if they ever did cheat. Sometimes people think lying and cheating are very different, when in reality they are very similar. When you tell a lie, you’re cheating the truth. Key word here is cheating. You see how it all connects in the end? George Mitchell isn’t telling you a super complicated quote that requires a spiritual journey to understand. No. It’s just telling you the simple hard hitting truth. If you cheat because you think you need it or whatever stupid reason, you make to excuse your cheating, no one will like you, because no one likes a cheater. No one forces you to cheat. You do it because you want to or like to. If someone forced you than that completely changes everything. But much to my surprise nothing can excuse you from cheating. Let’s say you and a friend take a test. He ended up scoring a 95. But you cheated and got a 100. When actually performing what you need to know he will succeed because he made an effort and was honest about, while you fail in life, for having cheated. That is why you shouldn’t cheat overall. It makes you look dirty and untrustworthy. Some people cheat some people don’t, is like saying, some people succeed and some people fail. Guess who are the ones that fail. Yep. So do yourself a favor and follow George’s words of wisdom. Anyway happy April Fool’s Day.

There All Honor Lies

"Act well your part; there all honor lies."

                                                                - Alexander Pope

What this quote is saying is that in order to be honorous and find honor, you need to act well. In other words you have to act well to be honorfull. Without acting well you can't be honorous. What this quote says is true. If you act in a manner that isn't right than it will be simply impossible for you to be honorous. For example the girl who sits in number 10 in eight block, doesn't type her posts, instead she goes to the ctr blog and copies it from another student. This is a dishonorful act. No one with any honor would ever do this act of filth. Now on the other hand there are students who do, create every single one of thier posts. Usually these are the students that don't do anything bad with thier life. The girl who copies posts will end up in deep trouble, she might even end up doing drugs, or even getting pregnant before she can actaully even be ready to be  a mom. However the students who make every single one of thier posts will end up doing good later in life, because it's when you do something bad that is little and has no impact that you will end up beinmg a bigger screw up in life. These aren't just opinions, although it might seem that way, these are simple facts of life. Now she is just "writing" on her book. She also coughs all over the place and doesn't cover her mouth. I don't know much about Alexander Pope, but what I do know is that his quotes are of a greater caliber. Feeding us knowledge that will one day help us to become better citizens. Like the simple act that is being taught right now. To be honorable. It is more than just an act. It is a way of life, and for those who can't live this way, simply won't become successful or righteous neither. That is why on must always try to be honest, not try but be honest. Sometimes all it takes is a little honesty to get things you need, or if you need the world to know something. Being honest is the best way to about it.

"People of Good Quality"

" Associate yourself with people of good quality if you esteem your own reputation; for 'tis better to be alone than in bad company."                                  -George Washington

What this quote is saying is that it is much better if you surround yourself with people who chooose the right, mch better than people who are always choosing the wrong. If the case is that you can't find people who choose the right and there are only people who choose the right then all there is left to do is the tougher but better choice of being by yourself. When your by yourself no one will be tempting you to choose the wrong, therefore you will always choose the right. And you won't submit to peer pressure, because there won't be any peers to pressure you and that's final. A good example of this would be hanging out with people who want to tag a building. Instead of hanging out with them you should hang out with people who want to do something good like help the environment. And if you don't want to do any of that, you can choose the right, by being on your own and not having to have problems. You will be sin free, and capable of being your own person. Another example would be hanging with a crowd and ditching school. Instead you should be with the good kids who make school fun and don't like to ditch school. They'll keep you smart and trouble free. That is why you must follow this quote. It is important and can lead the way to better things in your life. None other than the most American president himself, George Washington. This guy has some of the best quotes, that make living everday worth it.

What's right isn't always popular

"What's right isn't always popular. What's popular isn't always right."                                                   -Albert Einstein

This quote is from the genius himself. Although this quote is very truthful many people still don't care they'll do what's popular, because if they don't they'll feel like they're going to be judged for doing otherwise. This is true in under many situations. This quote especially makes sense for Albert Einstein because his theory of relativity was rejected. Einstein was rejected by many people. In fact he was way too smart for the people who were alive during his time. Even last week we just confirmed something that Einstein had spoken of and written of many years ago. For such a genius he was rejected too much. But it was his perseverance of knowledge that kept him going throughout the years ans is what now makes him the idol and intelligent being we all want to be. This situation was true for me when I was in elementary school. Everyone was talking back to the teacher because that's what everyone was doing. But I knew better. I held back and told everyone to be quiet because what they were doing was wrong in so many different ways. So Einstein I thank you for all the different ways you have helped humanity evolve in.

"A Choice"

"I hated poverty. Poverty is more of a choice than anything else, and I can change that. It depends upon how hard I want to work, and I decided that I would change it."

                                                        -Dr. Ben Carson

Many people start their life in a struggle. Not everyone is born in to wealth, so they struggle on their way to success. As we heard, Ben Carson is one of those people who was born in the struggle and yet, like the few there has been, made it through to success. At some point in his life he was doing horrible in school, so much that he was considered to be the worst in the class. His mother was a very strong woman. She wouldn't just let her son fail, like he was doing. She started to make Ben read. Even though he hated it, he did as he was told. Eventually he stumbled upon books that told of great success. This ended up inspiring him to read even more and to try and improve his grades. This lead him to be one of the greatest students ever. After fixing his grades, he was able to have a great education. Once he had this great education in his hand, it was up to him what he would do with it. And he chose the right. He ended up becoming a world renounced surgeon. His specialty was one that had almost never been attempted. Ben Carson was the first to successfully perform surgery on conjoined twins. After his first surgery, his career just sky rocketed. After the years passed, skip ahead to now 2016. He is a retired surgeon, but has gotten involved with politics. And not just low level politics, but he is now a legitimate presidential candidate. After being born in the slums, his success stories is one of the more relate able ones. The reason I say this is because many teens today are born into poverty. Now they have seen that education does help you reach much better places, and stay out of poverty. That is why I think this quote is very inspiring. He didn't just say it, but he lived it. This is what makes this quote so great.

"Enthusiasm makes the difference"

"Enthusiasm makes the difference"

                         -Dr. Norman Vincent Peale

This quote is one of the most truthful quotes I have ever heard. It's not scarce to see this quote become a reality. This quote is proven right by everything around us. In our daily life. In the movies. In books. This quote is true everywhere. It means what is says. If someone wants become an NBA all star,  and all they do is complain how they never make a shot, or how practice is super boring, than they don't have the enthusiasm they need in order to become an NBA star. On the other hand, someone who loves shooting, whether it's hit or miss, and they absolutely love practice and get excited for it than they do have the enthusiasm needed to become an NBA all star. Another example would be me and my enthusiasm for video games. When I want to play a game, i tend to get excited and I usually call over some friends so that they can get online and play with me. Although sometimes my friends don't share the enthusiasm I have when playing video games, so I try to reason with them so that they too feel excitement. When everyone is enthusiastic we can usually always win a match of our video game ahead by at least 40 points (that's a lot) playing with other actual people. Now sometimes my friends are enthusiastic about something I'm not. In this situation what we do is talk as a group until we all have something to get excited about. This can also make a general difference in your life when going to school and getting work done. Someone who is enthusiastic will usually want to do more work to better themselves in that class or subject. That is why I believe that this quote is one of the best and most truthful quotes ever made.

"I wasn't trying to leave a legacy"

"I wasn't trying to leave a legacy. I was trying to do what was right."
                                                                                                                                                                              - Dean Smith

Dean Smith was one of the best coaches of all time. He even broke the record (at some point ) of the most games ever won. He would coach the all American sport; basketball. Sadly he passed away. However his legacy is here to stay for years and years to come. He coached college basketball in North Carolina. He even coached the greatest basketball player of all time; Michael Jordan. In this quote he is showing his good nature as a person overall. Dean Smith is telling us he never did it for such a great impact. In this quote he's telling us how the whole time he was training it was only to do what is best and what is right. While he was coaching and getting so many victories he only focused on his players and what's good for them. As he was doing the right thing he was doing an exceptional job at coaching his basketball teams. He retired with a total of 873 victories in his basketball coaching career. A good example of this would be like Robert Downey Jr. He never meant to be such a good actor, he was just doing what was right and doing a damn good job at it too. Now he is won of the most successful actors in the business. He is recognized everywhere for such awesome performances. And all was done while he chose the right thing after doing a bad one long ago and going to prison for it. That is why this quote is so inspirational. He never meant to be as big as he ended up being. It just happened on the way.

"Karma will take care of itself"

"It's not about how to achieve your dreams. It's about how to lead your life. If you lead your life the right way, the karma will take care of itself. The dreams will come to you."
                                                                                                                                                                                 -Dr. Randy Pausch

Dr. Randy Pausch

What this quote is saying is that if you live your life in the correct manner than you won't have any problems neither physical nor psychological. When you do good, and only focus on yourself and doing good than all is good. You won't be desperate for a job, you'll be fine and know that as soon as you come for an interview you are going to get that job easy as pie. When you don't focus on the negativity than all is well, it'll resolve itself. When he says karma will take care of itself. it's telling you not to focus on all the bad things that can occur to you. When you avoid everything that is bad, fights, arguments, etc. than nothing will happen to you that will be wrong. Instead that person that wanted to fight with you will get what they deserve. A good example would be Dr.Randy himself. He wanted to be an engineer at Disneyland. Sadly he was rejected because he didn't have what they were looking for. So, this didn't upset him. Instead he moved on and looked for another small job he could find in the engineering field. Then he landed on a job where he would be able to to do testing and innovating virtual reality, which at the time was mostly used for video game purposes. But, this time he applied again, only now he had something Disneyland needed for a new ride. So this bit of experience allowed him to be able to make it bigger in his career. He was finally hired at Disneyland and was doing something he had always wanted to do. As a kid he also wanted to be in the NFL but sadly, that isn't so easy. Only the best of the best make it and sadly Randy pursued more important things in life allowing him to be the person he was.

Educating the body mind and spirit

"Of all the work that is done or that can be done for our country, the greatest is that of educating our body, the mind, and above all the character, giving spiritual and moral training to those who in a few years are themselves to decide the destinies of the nation." -Theodore Roosevelt

Theodore Roosevelt

What I believe this quote means is that if you take care of your mind body and spirit than all is well. If you're unhealthy than your body is unhealthy and that would mean that you have to go and exercise. Or you can also use drugs, and that would mean that you aren't taking care of your body. By the mind that can refer to having irrational thoughts. Or it can just plain and simple be to stop thinking wrong or imagining dirty images in real life. This would mean that your mind is tainted, in other words your mind isn't pure, it has something that isn't well or needs to be fixed, in any way possible, be it a psychiatrist, or psychologist. And what Mr.Roosevelt felt most important is character. Character is the way to go. You can be fat and depressed but if your character is taken care of then that won't matter because according to Roosevelt, character is what most importantly defines you as a person. If you have bad character, skipping all the nice words, if you have bad characters than no one will like you plain and simple. If you have bad character you will be hated by everyone except your mom because she made you. But if you need a job and have bad character than you might as well not even show up to the interview because the person who is hiring will most likely not want someone with bad character to be walking around just spreading all the pessimistic spirit. When this occurs people are going to notice and kick you out of where ever it is that you are. Now if you have a good spirit than you have a chance of getting a job anywhere you apply to, OF course not anywhere because some places require different things for different jobs in different fields but other than that you will be treated kind and with a light heart every where you go because that will be the way that people feel about you and they will also like to be treated as such.

"Intelligence is not enough"

"Intelligence is not enough. Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education" - Martin Luther King Jr.

What this quote means is that we need more than just intelligence. We need character. With both intelligence and character, we will be able to strive. Some people are really smart but if they have low character they can barely accomplish anything. Someone with high character but low intelligence, won't be able to do anything because, they'll just be too stupid. But on the other hand someone who has high intelligence and high character will be able to do almost anything they please, both academically and normally. When you have character you'll know how to properly speak to people of greater importance. If you're smart but don't have character you might not talk to someone properly and won't be able to do anything because you will have talked broken to that person and may lose the job to someone with lower intelligence but higher character.

"We need the courage"

"We need the courage to start and continue what we should do, and the courage to stop what we shouldn't do."

                                                                      -Richard L. Evans

We do many wrong things. But, that's just what we have come to live up to overtime. What was wrong then, may no longer be wrong now. What this quote is saying is that we need to start doing what is best and good to us and all those around us. But we shouldn't just start something, like how most people do. We need to start, except, that now we should keep doing it. A good example would be giving food to the homeless. People mostly do it during Christmas. The thing is, we should be doing that all year round not just on Christmas and then after that they can just go and look for whatever they can find, that's wrong. The quote also says that we should have the courage to stop whatever it is that is wrong. A good example of this would be the waste that we release into the ocean and rivers. We say we're going to stop, but then there's always someone who wants to pay the government some money so that they can be allowed to use the ocean as a place where they can put all their waste, sewage, and trash. Harming all the animals that live in the nearby ocean. That is why I believe that this quote is very meaningful.

"When You Tell One Lie"

"When you Tell One Lie, it leads to Another"

                                                     -Paul Hatch

This quote is just the simple truth. I say this from experience. I had lied to my brother about something. Since my brother kept asking about the situation, I had lied about everything he had asked me about so one thing just led to another, and eventually I had told about eleven lies. This also messes you up mentally. When you have a big secret you lied about you get really nervous that no one knows and you just start to feel overwhelmed that you haven't told anyone. That's why once you tell someone that you lied, you feel so good about it.

"Always Do Right"

                                    "Always do right"

                                                                  -Mark Twain

I believe this quote means that no matter the cost or time or even the effort, you should always do what is right. Even if doing the wrong thing can sometimes seem tempting, you must overcome it and do what is right. So yeah this quote is very good and should be followed in order to do right and remember to do right no matter the cost. A good example of this would be when you borrow something. When you borrow something, you should give it back when you finish using it. Some people, however, don't do such a thing, instead they keep whatever it is they borrowed and when asked for it they lie to keep it. Although most people choose the wrong under that circumstance, the few that do choose the right are sometimes told they can keep whatever they borrow, or more importantly they gain that person's trust and can then later be trusted if they need to borrow something else. This is why we must always do right even when it is tempting to do what's wrong.

"It's better to be alone"

"It's better to be alone than to be in bad company"
                                                     -Unknown

Image result for being alone is better than being with the wrong crowd

I believe it is better to be alone than around others who don't know how to act. When you're alone but not doing anything wrong, by default you're doing what is right. When you're around people who get drunk and don't know where they end up all hung over, you should be by yourself maybe studying or watching a movie, just not out doing bad things. For example let's say one day your friends want you to go egg a house with them. And you tell them that you don't want to. So you stay home and do whatever it is that you normally do. A couple hours later and they got caught on the news egging someone's house. Now you might feel bad for them, but you will also feel good that you didn't go with them. Therefore, you didn't get in trouble like they did. So now you feel good for doing what's good. That is why sometimes under certain conditions, being alone can be better than being out with bad people who don't know how to act.
